Customised shelving systems that can withstand heating systems and pipes – BITZER

2019/05/01

Caught out in the cold? BITZER , the specialist for refrigeration and air conditioning technology, needed a range of different shelving systems for its new production hall. The special challenge: we were expected to adapt the shelving systems optimally to objects in the production hall which were in the way. What exactly does that mean, and were we able to implement it? Keep reading to find out.

What else is important for health besides individually configured furnishings and sufficient light at the workplace? Exactly, the climate. This has, after all, been BITZER GmbH’s raison d’etre for 80 years now. Its products not only ensure the optimum climate in buses, trains and interiors, but also that food stays fresh at all times on its journey.

Requirements

BITZER GmbH wt$

In order to be able to store its products efficiently and sustainably in the new production hall, BITZER GmbH required a range of different shelving systems. We were not only asked to widen the shelf width of the pallet racking to give it larger dimensions, but also to adapt the entire shelving system to the features of the production hall. This meant that we had to integrate heaters as well as pipes and hall uprights into the shelving units.

Solution

Unusual requirements, but fortunately we were not caught out in the cold. We have known BITZER for some time now, and were recently asked to supply a cantilever racking unit as sheet metal shelving unit for one of their existing production halls.

Once our contact person had visited the site in person to take stock all the requirements and view the production hall, we used CAD to plan a double row of shelving and a cantilever racking unit. We then widened the usual 2700 mm shelf width of the pallet racking to a larger size, exactly as requested. This gave BITZER a better way to store its EUR mesh pallets. All beam levels were also fitted with statically calculated grates to allow flexible storage of wooden crates.

Once BITZER had agreed to the CAD planning, our contact came round a second time to measure and discuss everything again in detail. At which point it was time for delivery and installation.

“Thanks to the detailed on-site consultations and the wide range of storage systems, we were able to install a complete solution that is both efficient and future proof.”
