VLITEX Akku-Safe shelves offer reliable protection in case of battery fires and are available in two sizes.

Specially developed for the safe storage of lithium-ion batteries, the shelving unit ensures that fires remain controlled without endangering surrounding areas. In the event of a fire, the fire-resistant material immediately reduces smoke and effectively protects against the spread of flames. The shelving unit also offers a significant reduction in the ambient temperature and is therefore the perfect solution for safe and rapid fire prevention in workshops, warehouses and industrial plants. The shelving system is easy to handle and the frame (boltless shelving unit), including the hood, can be assembled in just a few minutes. Its very low weight ensures the shelving system can be quickly repositioned. The material used for the fire containment hood consists of a high-performance fabric and meets the requirements of DIN SPEC 91489. It effectively prevents the spread of fires and reliably protects against the risks of a battery fire. Can be used multiple times, depending on the fire load and damage such as cuts or holes.

Safety notice: This system has been successfully tested by Fraunhofer with 1 x 740 Wh Li-ion battery (+90% charged). Store batteries with a maximum total capacity of 740 Wh per shelf. However: The system is not a guaranteed protection against battery explosions. It is designed to provide temporary containment in order to reduce the immediate risk and allow time for emergency measures.

The German manufacturer VLITEX GmbH equips fire brigades and industry, among others, with safety products based on technical textiles. Tested according to the relevant standards:

– Short-term temperature resistance confirmed by Magna Steyr (1300 °C)
– Short-term temperature resistance confirmed by in-house test (1750 °C)
– Electrical resistance according to DIN 54345-1 confirmed by Hof University of Applied Sciences (< 1.0 x 106 Ω)
– Cut resistance according to ISO 13997:1999-08 confirmed by STFI (18.45 N)
– Fire behaviour according to DIN EN 13501 confirmed by MPA (A2)
