The fire containment blanket is made of silica fabric and is suitable for sensitive areas where no silicone may be used. With excellent thermal and fire resistant properties, it exhibits a high density and strength. At the same time, it is so thin that it is easy to store and transport. The blanket is suitable for isolating battery fires and minimising the spread of heat and smoke. The vermiculite coated silica fabric can withstand temperatures of up to 1500 °C on a sustained basis. The material features low thermal conductivity. When using the blanket, the battery power and state of charge must be factored in. The product is suitable for battery modules that are installed in strong metal housings. Its function when used makes the VLITEX SUPERIOR fire containment blanket ideal for single use: silica has a very high melting point, but the material will shrink on contact with high heat.
