We don't have to explain how much easier operational logistics become with wheels and castors. That is why we prefer to explain to you when and why you should place your trust in swivel castors and fixed castors from our product range.
Each swivel castor consists of a wheel in a housing to which a specific type of fastener is attached. As soon as a housing like this is used, the castor can, theoretically, move in all directions.
So it simply responds to a directional impulse and moves transport equipment and trolleys around corners and curves. To make manoeuvring easier and device handling safer, many castors have either a stop that only blocks the direction of rotation of the wheel. Or they have a double stop that also blocks the swivel bearing.
A fixed castor is, accordingly, a wheel in a housing with an attachment that does not rotate. This means that these rollers can only move straight ahead – but they do so particularly unerringly and quickly.
Basically, it is always the best idea to make use of the benefits of both variants in one device. Then they can make headway on straight stretches with great track holding properties and still take all curves and obstacles with little force required. The combination of two swivel castors with two fixed castors is therefore also the most common version. However, four swivel castors are ideal when you need to manoeuvre in the tightest of spaces, such as moving serving trolleys through narrow office corridors or assembly trolleys around many workstations.
Theoretically, four fixed castors (or swivel castors with wheel stops) could move ahead particularly smoothly and hold their track on defined paths. In reality, however, nobody uses this variant.
The different tyre and castor materials allow you to optimally adapt the fixed and swivel castors to the respective task, the load bearing capacity and the environmental factors:
You can find more about the most important details when making a selection in the purchasing guide to wheels and castors.
Each product page offers you many configuration options for your choice of castor. As always, we determine the optimal combination of properties for you as soon as you have clicked on the main factor that determines your selection. In doing so, please observe the following:
