Even the most experienced employees cannot know all the possible dangers on a company site. Even uninformed visitors should know what to expect on their way through the company. This information is provided on warning signs that clearly indicate a danger and encourage safe action.
Warning signs as a subcategory of safety signs have recently been revised and standardised. The general and internationally understandable symbolism and colouring in particular has been updated. According to DIN EN ISO 7010, hazard signs must be triangular and have black lettering on the background colour signal yellow (RAL 1003).

The yellow triangles are intended to warn people of possible health and safety hazards in a particular area. This goes hand in hand with the fact that the signs alone do not communicate explicit prohibitions or instructions for action, but encourage a certain conduct.
This applies, for example, to seasonal dangers caused by roof avalanches or even unpredictable bulls on a pasture. Hazard signs indicating the danger of crushing at machines or the presence of high voltage current or optical radiation are more frequently encountered.
The safety signs in the company follow a clear guideline: There must be no doubt about what is to be done or not be done in a certain area. This is why hazard signs are often combined with suitable mandatory or prohibition signs.
For hazard signs indicating falling or suspended loads, a mandatory sign for the use of head protection is advisable. In the case of very dangerous areas, corresponding prohibitions on entering a certain area are required. However, you must make sure that each sign makes the instructions for action very specific, and is therefore indispensable. Redundant or even contradictory signs diminish the informative function and result in the originally obvious warning no longer being effective, or being misunderstood.
