Filling material
Filling material is just an afterthought? Not at all! This is the only way to ensure that fragile products reach your customers undamaged. One of the first rules for safe mailing is: don’t leave any cavities in the parcel! Because if nothing can move around, nothing can be knocked and break.
In the category Filling material we offer you products of the following brands: ratioform terra, ratioform, ratioform economy.
Which types of filling material are available?
Our product range for filling, cushioning and protecting products is fully focused on packaging chips. The foam nuggets are the ideal shock absorber for everything sensitive, fragile and in need of protection when sent in larger types of postal packaging and cardboard boxes. As a filling material for parcels and other packages, the following properties make an impression:
- Effective to very effective shock absorption
- Antistatic and hygienic properties
- Dust free use
- Resistance to moisture
- Individual adaptation to cavities of any size and geometry
In many cases, the last point in particular makes them a better alternative to other filling materials such as air cushions, even if these offer an even higher absorbent effect.
Which types of packaging chips are available?
Just like bags, cardboard boxes and all other types of packaging, the issue of sustainability takes a key importance for parcels.
Packaging chips are no longer only available in conventional polystyrene, but also as ones made of pea starch, for example.
This material is 100 percent biodegradable and compostable, and the packaging chips exhibit the same excellent functionality. Classic foams are now also becoming more sustainable and can be reused several times, or be fully recycled.
How do I choose the right filling material?
The shape of the packaging chips is chosen to suit the function and the ideal area of use:
- Hollow foam peanuts in the shape of a figure 8 or a ring feature an integral ''dynamic shock absorption'' that provides excellent protection for sensitive materials. The design of these chips allows them to wedge perfectly into each other, creating an excellent barrier against impacts coming from the outside, while providing the cushioning necessary to protect the product inside the package.
- Depending on the material and design, solid foam peanuts exhibit excellent moisture protection properties. Nevertheless, if products are at risk of corrosion, you should use additional on bags for corrosion protection.
If you use organic packaging chips, be sure to tell the recipients about this. By doing so, you not only sending the message that your company acts sustainably, but you will also give customers or partners the opportunity to familiarise themselves with a new type of packaging or to pass on the ''green advantage'' to others by reusing it. This creates a green logistics chains that gets longer and longer.
